As 2014 draws to a close, we bring you some of the winning and shortlisted images from the 8th Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards.

The brainchild of acclaimed British photographer Charlie Waite, the Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards are now in their eighth year. Run in association with VisitBritain and Countryside is GREAT, each category attracts incredible photos by those able to capture the very essence of Britain.
Shortlisted and winning photos in the latest book, Landscape Photographer of the Year Collection 8, show the natural beauty of our nation, from the furthest tip of northern Scotland, to the beaches of the south, as well as man-made quirks. These sublime images are evidence that Britain can supply photographers with an astonishing variety of visual drama and incident through the seasons, and we think you’ll agree that the resulting pictures over the next few pages speak for themselves.
Waite says: “Britain is a wonderfully photogenic location and this book shows the results of that knowledge and their [the photographers’] talent. There is no doubt in my mind that our countryside truly is great.”
