Holiday cottages in Cornwall with sea views for autumn

View from Upton Mill, Port Isaac

Don’t plump for anything other than perfect this autumn. Pick from Classic Cottages’ flawless range of self-catering holiday cottages in Cornwall with sea views and see the beautiful Cornish coast at its best…

Classic Cottages, announced as a Which? Recommended Provider in July 2021, exists to make finding the perfect place for you and your loved ones to get together a whole lot easier.

Missing cutlery items and a lack of quality towels will be a thing of the past if you choose one of their hand-picked and meticulously managed self-catering properties, allowing your family to fully enjoy every second of your time together. Not only do they require that their cottages are regularly inspected, they also ensure strong relationships with each and every property owner, so any feedback can be quickly and amiably acted upon, and nothing slips through the cracks.

Cornwall comes out on top time and time again when Britons are surveyed on their favourite staycation destinations. With the famously scenic South West Coast Path a pull for inveterate walkers and casual ramblers alike, and its seemingly endless supply of secluded, sandy beaches and quaint, colourful harbours, we’re not surprised.

While summer sees even off-the-beaten-track beaches attracting their fair share of visitors daily, autumn explorers have more space to play with, and often some golden late-year sun to bask in too.

That’s why we’d like to introduce you to three of Classic Cottages’ most charming coastal properties in Cornwall, so you can start weighing up your options and ensure you get the pick of the bunch: will you travel to the wild west of the heritage tin mine coast, also known as Poldark country, or the tropical garden-filled east coast? One thing we know you’ll all want is a sea view

Inside this seemingly compact thatched cottage, which actually sleeps seven, there are plenty of other spaces for family and friends to spread out or gather together: the sitting room, snug and dining room are all elegantly and characterfully furnished and thoughtfully filled with everything you may need. Original beams, fireplaces and impressive antique beds all add to its allure, and the kitchen is equipped with a pantry, oil-fired Aga and an electric oven and hob, so you can cook and bake to your heart’s desire.

We love this bright haven, the ideal place for relaxing in peace and quiet and watching the boats sail by into Coverack harbour.

Several window seats and even a roll-top bath make the most of the stunning views over Mevagissey harbour that this former master mariner’s house enjoys.

Harbour Masters House, which sleeps eight, is a smart, modern, light and airy holiday home that is perfectly located south of St Austell nearby all sorts of things to do, from kayak and paddleboard-hire, which you can use to explore the coves from Portmellon beach (within walking distance from the house), to The Lost Gardens of Heligan and fishing trips from the harbour.

French doors from the kitchen lead out onto a Mediterranean-feel private patio, but we really don’t think you’ll be able to resist the pull of the sea, which can be admired from many rooms – including bedrooms – within this spacious, soothingly decorated late Victorian town house.
