Your July/August issue is on sale now!

Summer will soon be upon us, and at this time of year there’s nowhere we’d rather be than Cornwall, whose salty shores hold some of England’s most stunning sights. This issue see Shakespeare under the stars at the rock-hewn Minack Theatre, visit serenely beautiful St Michael’s Mount or take in some art in sunny St Ives.

Continuing the summer theme, we’ve rounded up the very grandest of the grande-dame seaside hotels offering sea views, history and luxury galore. We also revisit nostalgic summery scenes from our favourite books and we head north to the Peak District whose moody moors are carpeted with purple heather in late August. Elsewhere in the issue, we explore the tale of Flora Macdonald, the girl who helped Bonnie Prince Charlie escape and we take a look back at the tumultuous events that led to then English Civil War setting the scene for Oliver Cromwell’s rise to power.

Hidden Cornwall

Picnics and Poohsticks
