We take a tour of Scotland’s largest island, which is home to some of the most remote settlements in Britain. Take a look at these stunning photos of Lewis and Harris
Desolate yet dramatic, windswept and wild, Scotland’s ‘Long Island’, as it is known, comprises Lewis in the north and Harris in the south. It’s a fascinating mix of peat moorland and craggy mountains, white-sand beaches and turquoise bays, where hobbit-like houses hanker down in the face of blustery winds sweeping in off the Atlantic, blending almost imperceptibly with the rugged landscape.
