BRITAIN’s Photos of the Week: Isle of Wight

The Isle of Wight is just a short ferry ride from mainland England, and is a delightful place to visit for a Spring weekend getaway

With an area of 148 square miles and situated a few miles off the Hampshire coast, the Isle of Wight is the largest island in England. It was home to the literary figures including the poet Tennyson and was also the site of Queen Victoria’s much-loved summer residence and final home, Osborne House at East Cowes. With a maritime tradition such as boat building and sail making, the Isle of Wight is as industrious as it is picturesque. Scroll down our gallery to see some of the most idyllic spots to visit on this picture-postcard island.
