Launching its first Christmas event, Foodies Festival, the UK’s largest celebration of food and drink, is coming to east London from 28-30 November 2014.

For three days The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, will be filled with Michelin star chefs including Robert Ortiz of Lima and Kim Woodward of York and Albany, running a variety of live cooking demonstrations and masterclasses, plus numerous food stalls treating visitors to tempting tasters. Highlights of the festival include The Pudding Hall – a haven of festive treats with pâtissiers and chocolatiers featuring a life-size gingerbread house, Vintage Tea Room with live jazz and swing music, a new Craft Beer and Spirits Theatre, an international Cheese Village, and a Ski Bar serving après ski cocktails.

A daily Christmas Bumper Quiz will be hosted by The Apprentice contestant Daniel Lassman, plus visitors will have the chance to take part in ceilidh dancing sessions. There will also be an Elf Cookery School for the little ones, hosted by Kiddy Cook.

Special guest John Whaite, winner of The Great British Bake Off in 2012 will also be heading up a Christmas baking initiative with series four Bake Off favourite Glenn Cosby, sharing their signature recipes and demonstrating how to create the perfect festive feast. Other top chefs include Jesse Dunford Wood of PARLOUR, Kurobuta’s head chef Scott Hallsworth; The Bluebird’s Matt Robinson, 2013 Masterchef winner Natalie Coleman, and The Corinthia’s head chef Garry Hollihead. Vegans and vegetarians can look forward to Little Miss Meat Free Katy Beskow – winner of Peta’s 2014 Great Vegan Bake Off – sharing her Christmas alternative recipes.

Meanwhile, the outdoor Street Food Courtyard serves up the finest of London’s street food, from Up in my Grill, Gaddens Scotch Eggs and Free Ranger, not to mention real reindeer. And festival-goers can tuck into all street food treats in the neighbouring Feasting Tent, complete with communal banqueting tables and a sky of twinkling fairy lights.
