Dreaming of a stay amongst Oxford’s ‘dreaming spires’? The Store, a newly opened hotel in the heart of town, makes a wonderful base for exploring this heritage city. The building itself is a true Oxford landmark – for centuries it was the home of the historic Boswells department store. Family-owned and much-loved by the local community, Boswells started trading in 1738 and finally closed its doors in 2020.
The building has been sensitively restored, and the timeless design of The Store’s 101 rooms is inspired by its rich history, with an abundance of period features offering a nod to the past, stylishly updated with modern comforts and luxurious touches.
One lucky reader and their guest will win a night’s stay at The Store, beginning their Oxford experience with cocktails in the hotel’s rooftop bar, with breathtaking views over the city. They will then be treated to dinner at Treadwell, the hotel’s elegant, ‘untraditionally British’ restaurant, which uses local produce in creative new ways, in dishes such as rosemary and thyme brined pork tomahawk with tahini hispi cabbage and pesto.
After a restful night’s sleep in a deeply competition comfortable bed and a delicious breakfast, our winner and their guest are free to enjoy all the delights of Oxford, from its medieval colleges and world-class museums to Harry Potter sights and punting and picnicking on the Cherwell.

The prize must be taken by 17 March 2025, is for two people sharing a room for one night, and includes breakfast, dinner up to the value of £100 and two rooftop cocktails for two, up to the value of £20 per person.
