WIN a gourmet stay in a castle

Enter our competition to win the finest gourmet break for two at Scotland’s oldest inhabited castle

Dating back to the 13th century, Dalhousie Castle is both romantic and intriguing, and modern-day guests can enjoy warm hospitality within its stone walls. One of Scotland’s nest hotels, Dalhousie Castle has 35 bedrooms and suites, a luxurious thermal spa and is highly acclaimed for its fine dining.

One lucky winner and their guest will be treated to a two-night stay, including a cream tea on arrival, a three-course dinner and a bottle of wine each evening in the candle-lit Dungeon Restaurant, as well as a full Scottish breakfast each morning. They will also have use of the hotel’s award-winning spa facilities.

This imposing residence is over 800 years old and its architecture doesn’t disappoint, boasting turrets, spiral staircases and an ornate Gothic entrance hall. The ambience is warm and welcoming, with rich, heavily detailed interiors featuring log res and cosy interior styling.

Dining here is a real experience, with aperitifs served in the Library from a ‘secret bar’, allowing diners time to peruse the menu of modern Scottish dishes, prepared by Head Chef Francois Giraud, who brings a classical French in uence to quality local produce.

Located eight miles South East of Edinburgh, in Bonnyrigg, the castle enjoys the best of town and country. Set in 11 acres of private grounds, with the River Esk running through, guests can partake in archery and falconry, as a number of birds of prey are housed on the estate.

With its close proximity to Edinburgh, a stay at Dalhousie also puts you in a wonderful position to explore not only Scotland’s capital and the east coast, but also the Lothians and Scottish Lowlands.
