The i Staycation Awards 2019: The winners announced

From city breaks to rural escapes, the inaugural Staycation Awards picks out the best tourist destinations in Britain.

Last week the i Staycation Awards ceremony was held at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel to recognise the best of British tourism and shine a light on some of the nation’s best-loved but little-celebrated organisations and venues.

Nominated by readers of the national i newspaper, almost 1,000 nominations in 17 categories were whittled down by nine discerning judges, including BRITAIN’s very own editor, Natasha Foges, who joined fellow judges from the National Trust, Ramblers, Responsible Travel and holidaycottages.co.uk, to name a few.

Natasha Foges, BRITAIN magazine editor (second from right) presents the Tourist Attraction of the Year award to Strawberry Field. Matt Baker (far left) hosted the ceremony.

Hosted by BBC presenter, Matt Baker, the night was filled with pride and passion for Britain’s thriving tourism industry – a testament to the winners, as well as all the nominees.
