Photographers both professional and amateur can dust down their camera lenses and take part in the eighth annual Take a View Landscape Photographer of the Year Award 2014. Brainchild of renowned landscape photographer Charlie Waite, the prestigious competition is open to everyone and each entrant can submit 25 photographs across four categories. There is a prize fund worth £20,000 with £10,000 going to the overall winner.

An exhibition of winning entries will premiere in central London in November 2014 and over 150 of the best photographs will appear in stunning coffee table book Landscape Photographer of the Year, Collection 8. Last year, an atmospheric shot of a misty autumn dawn at Crummock Water in Cumbria (above) by photographer Tony Bennett won first prize.

The awards are being held in association with VisitBritain and Countryside is GREAT. Founder Charlie Waite said: “The power of a photograph can be key to conveying information; what better way to encourage visitors to appreciate what Britain has to offer and to discover that there is joy to be had from our landscapes, whether they be large scale and dramatic or small and involving.”
