Bournemouth

Famous for its award-winning gardens that lead all the way down to the beach, Bournemouth has attracted a number of literary visionaries. J.R.R. Tolkien holidayed here for over thirty years and eventually retired in a house on Lakeside Avenue, while Robert Luis Stevenson wrote The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde from a house near the town and Mary Shelley and her parents are buried at St. Peter’s Church.
