The Duchess of Cambridge was well enough to attend not one but two official engagements yesterday following the announcement that her and the Duke’s second baby is due in April.
Stepping out on Tuesday morning for the very first time since her second pregnancy was announced, the Duchess of Cambridge remarked that she was pleased to be “out of the house”, and continued to look delighted as she made her way to the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2014 awards ceremony that same evening.
Catherine began the day riding in a carriage procession to Buckingham Palace as part of the state visit by the president of Singapore, wearing a bespoke Alexander McQueen grey checked frock coat, complemented by a matching Jane Taylor hat and a black suede clutch from her beloved Brit designer Jenny Packham’s AW14 collection.
Despite still suffering from acute morning sickness and being 13 weeks into her second pregnancy, the Duchess of Cambridge looked glowing as she welcomed Singapore’s Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife Mary.
And later on, attending the black tie event at the Natural History Museum – of which she is patron – her baby bump was barely visible beneath a sensational powder blue crepe full-length gown (another bespoke number from her favourite designer Jenny Packham) with her trademark nude stilettos.
Veteran broadcaster and wildlife documentary-maker Sir David Attenborough joined the Duchess at the Wildlife Photographer awards ceremony to present prizes to the winners. The recipient of the overall prize was American photographer Michael Nichols, with his black and white image of a pride of lions resting with their cubs in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park.
Kate’s pregnancy was announced last month but the due date of April 2015 was only confirmed this week. The royal couple’s second baby will be fourth in line to the throne, behind one-year-old Prince George, who was born in July last year.
