The Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, in Conwy, north Wales, has announced that Prince Charles has become its patron. The RCA has enjoyed Royal Patronage since its foundation in 1882
The RCA has enjoyed Royal Patronage since its foundation in 1882, when a request to Queen Victoria resulted in this reply from the Secretary of State, “Her Most Gracious Majesty’s Command that the Cambrian Academy of Art should be styled the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art”.
Recent patrons included Charles’ grandmother, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. “We’re delighted that His Royal Highness has accepted this invitation”, said President of the Royal Cambrian Academy, Professor Maurice Cockrill RA.
“The academy has gone from strength to strength since moving to a purpose-built gallery in the centre of Conwy in the 1990s.”
