With work by Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Jeff Koons, Pop Life in a Material World at Tate Modern (until 17 January 2010) was always going to be a much talked about affair…
“Good business is the best art” Andy Warhol once famously declared.
Tate Modern’s latest exhibition Pop Life: Art in a Material World uses this statement as a starting point in reconsidering the legacy of Pop Art and the influence of the movement’s chief protagonist.
The exhibition looks ahead to the various ways that artists since the 1980s have engaged with mass media and cultivated artistic personas creating their own signature ‘brands’.
Among the artists represented are Tracey Emin, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince.
Tate Modern, until 17 January 2010. Tickets £12.50. To book tickets tel: (020) 7887
