WIN a Cornish escape this summer

The Old Coastguard Cornwall | win a Cornish escape | Cornwall competition | Cornwall hotels
Fantastic view from The Old Coastguard

Enter our competition for your chance to win a traditional Cornish escape this summer so you can explore Poldark country at your leisure.

We’ve teamed up with multi-award winning small hotels company, EATDRINKSLEEP, to offer one lucky winner and their guest the chance to win a luxury Cornish escape, which includes a two-night stay at its outstanding small hotel, The Old Coastguard, in the iconic fishing village of Mousehole. The winner and their guest will also be treated to dinner one night at its nearby sister inn, The Gurnard’s Head.

Both hotels are located at the very western end of Cornwall, where the coasts converge to meet at Land’s End. The northern coastline, where the Gurnard’s Head is situated, is wild and faces the Atlantic with high cliffs giving magnificent views from the footpath which follows the coast around the entire south west of England. The Old Coastguard resides on the southern coastline, which is gentler with more sheltered inlets and beaches.

Bedroom at The Old Coastguard

The Old Coastguard sits just above the rocks on the edge of Mousehole. The hotel has 14 bedrooms – most with views out over the usually sparkling Mount’s Bay – and has a reputation for effortlessly relaxed service. Like its sister inns, the food is delicious, taking inspiration from the neighbouring fishing port of Newlyn, and has a superb wine list – it’s
a recent winner of the UK Wine List of the Year award.

The Gurnard’s Head sits amid the cliffs of the Atlantic coast and the sheep-flecked moorland near the mystical village of Zennor. Here the food takes centre stage to a background that is more a pub than a small hotel, but the kind of pub you just long to find in such a remote location.

Aside from its sheer beauty, this magical end of Cornwall offers plenty for visitors, including gardens such as Trengwainton, Tremenheere and Trewidden, and the Minack Theatre – an amphitheatre cut into the stone cliffs not far from Land’s End. For most though, simply walking the beautiful South West Coast Path is enough of a reason to visit.
