This issue of BRITAIN magazine, April/May 2010, is now on sale, bringing you more of what makes Britain such a beautiful country.

Britain doesn't have the extreme drama of the Himalayas or the Grand Canyon and yet the variety of its landscapes is still a major part of its appeal. Friends visiting from overseas often comment on how much there is packed into one small island (or group of islands!). Even within one county you'll find this wonderful diversity: Norfolk, for example, from the coastline of long beaches and salt marshes, to the Broads, Brecks and the Fens.

Britain's history is also a great draw so, this issue, we decided to look at the most influential women in our history. It was only 30 years ago that we acquired our first female prime minister and, although we don't appear to be having another one soon, women have nevertheless made and continue to make their mark in the corridors of power and in the arts and sciences. Do take a look at those our writer selected, then do let us know what you think.

Meanwhile, our places to stay feature this issue looks at the bed and breakfasts of the Wolsey Lodges group, where characterful buildings and a family welcome are of prime importance.

With all this and more in BRITAIN magazine, there should be plenty to help you plan your next visit. And do let our website guide you around the wonderful choice of attractions and accommodations Britain has to offer and the events and exhibitions taking place around the country. For example, London boasts new galleries and refurbishment at two of its most influential museums this spring, the Jewish Museum in Camden and the Museum of London at the Barbican.
