WIN a day out at the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup Polo Final
THE GLORIOUS SETTING of Cowdray Park against the backdrop of the South Downs is one of the most beautiful places in the world to be introduced to polo, that most popular of British sporting occasions. This year's polo season runs to 19 September and highlights include: (22 May) the England v South Africa International Test Match for the St Regis Polo Cup and the British Ladies Open Championship Final; (6 June) The Argentine Ambassadors Cup High Goal Polo; (20 June) The Midhurst Town Cup High Goal Polo; and (9-15 August) The Final of the Cowdray Park Challenge Cup. And where better to sample polo than at the Final of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup, the trophy that every leading player wants to win sometime in their career? This year's tournament opens on 22 June and some 40 matches take place, leading to the Quarter Finals on 10/11 July, the Semis on 15 July, then the Final on Sunday 18 July.
Don’t worry if you’ve never watched a chukka or two of polo, as Cowdray’s witty and informed commentators will soon guide you through all the thrills and spills. And at half time there’s your chance to tread in the divots and spot who’s–who in the style stakes.
Cowdray Park is the ideal location to picnic, but there are also plenty of food outlets and bars in the shopping village where up to 90 trade stands offer a tempting array of clothing, accessories, shoes, leather goods, items for the home and garden and country goodies. There’s even a mini funfair – what more could you ask of a summer day out? To find out more about the polo season at Cowdray, go to www.cowdraypolo.co.uk. COMPETITION Two lucky couples can win a taste of polo at the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup for the British Open Polo Championship on Sunday 18 July. Enjoy a fabulous day out at the final, with entry to the grounds, a picnic supplied by the Cowdray Farm Shop, seats on the grandstand to watch the Final of the Veuve Clicquot Gold Cup, souvenir programmes, and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label.
