DON'T MISS the chance to see The Household Cavalry and their spectacular, Musical Ride, at The Betfair Lambourn Charity Open Day, this Good Friday, 2 April. The Cavalry dates back to 1660 and the Musical Ride has 28 horses and 36 soldiers demonstrating their skills, including the four state trumpeters and the Queen's drum horse. They will also be taking on past and present top jockeys in a thrilling show-jumping competition. This annual charity event is a great opportunity to go behind the scenes at some of the country's top training establishments and meet the stars of the show: the horses, trainers and jockeys. You can also can see the foals at Kingwood Stud and the facilities at the Equine Veterinary Hospital, as well as various demonstrations taking place during the Open Day including swimming, farriery, schooling and working on the gallops.

The Lambourn Valley, in Berkshire, is famous for its association with the training of the world's finest race horses: there are over 2,000 horses in training, with over 50 racing yards. The springy downland turf and the large uninterrupted open spaces create an ideal environment for breeding and training horses. The area celebrates its heritage with The Lambourn Open Day, on Good Friday every year and at the Lambourn Festival, each summer. 






Tickets cost £12 for the day and £6 after 1pm (children free). All money raised supports local charities including the Lambourn Valley Housing Trust and Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
