Daleks go under the hammer
Two Daleks, a Sea Devil, and several Cybermen risk sending potential buyers running behind their sofas at the auction, but they can safely emerge when costumes worn by the most-popular Doctor, David Tennant, and his female companions go on sale. The auction is being held with a view to raising funding for future series. Fans of David Tennant can bid for a blue shirt he wore in several episodes (est £250-£350), or even a full outfit he wore in a Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned (est £2,000-£3,000). Pop princess Kylie Minogue guest-starred in that show and the waitress outfit she wore as Astrid Peth is also tipped for a fast sale (est £2,000-£3,000). If you're more into the monsters and aliens from the show, look out for the Daleks (a black Imperial Dalek Mk 1 from Remembrance of the Daleks, 1988, est £2,500-£3,500 or the white Mk 2 est £5,000-£7,000). Or perhaps it was the Cybermen that sent you cowering behind the sofa and you need your own one to face your fears (Cyberman costume from The FIve Doctors in 1983, est £2,500-£3,000). They've even selling the SUV used in Torchwood, the sister series starring John Barrowman. Bonhams, the British auction house founded in 1793, has salerooms around the UK, and worldwide including New York and Hong Kong. Visit their website for further information this and other auctions. |
